Rockstar Aaron’s B-Day Bash with Lady Starlight (Bar Standard, 2.11.11)
Lady Gaga’s DJ Lady Starlight put on a rockin’ show at Rockstar Aaron‘s Paparazzi Birthday Bash at Bar Standard on Friday. Check out the photo slideshow at the bottom of this post, or view the full set in my Flickr gallery. Characters and personalities such as Maris the Great and Damiana Garcia of Daily Freak Show also made an appearance. It was one hell of a party!

Hey Lady! B-52s cover band at Bar Standard
On Friday, DJ Rockstar Aaron‘s new Female Trouble dance party kicked off at Bar Standard with a live performance by the B-52s cover band Hey Lady! I dropped in before heading off to Lipgloss to take some snapshots of the band and the crowd.

More nightlife photography updates (May 2010)
Once again, it’s been an incredibly busy couple of weeks. Besides my regular nightlife photography gigs at Lipgloss, I have been working on several video projects and also covered the second Denver Cruiser ride of the season, as well as the Alice in Wonderland themed dance party at the Rockbar.

Artopia Pre-Party at Bar Standard, Rockstar Aaron’s Carnival Birthday Bash, Denver Cruisers and more… Oh my!
As it seems to happen a lot lately, I had a pretty busy couple of weeks. And, as is usually the case when that happens, I’ve neglected updating this blog in a timely manner. Fear not, for with one swift entry I shall catch up on everything that has been going on in my not-so-exciting life. Ready?

February 10 – Artopia Pre-Party at Bar Standard
This year, Westword’s Artopia promises to be bigger and more exciting than ever, spanning 4 venues and pretty much taking over the entire city block for the annual art-food-fashion-and-music party. I’m in no way affiliated with Westword, but I had so much fun at last year’s Artopia that I couldn’t resist bringing my camera this time around.
February 12 – Rockstar Aaron’s Carnival Birthday Bash at the Rockbar
This was one hell of a fun event. DJ Rockstar Aaron is known for throwing crazy parties for his Birthday every year, and this time was no exception. The party was hosted by Naughty Pierre Jean-Pierre St. Pierre and featured stilt walkers, burlesque performances by Lannie’s cabaret dancers Midnight Martini and Peggy Tulane, cameos by Maris the Great, Faggoria, Sid Pink and a slew of other colorful characters. There were clowns, little people, Single Ladies flash mob, and much more. The entire night seems like a blur to me now, but thankfully I have photos as evidence that it did, in fact, happen.
February 13 – I (heart) Cruisers at Casselman’s Bar and Venue
I (heart) Cruisers was a cruiser bike-themed Valentine’s Day party hosted by Denver Cruisers, which featured a fine art photography exhibit by Todd Van Fleet, music by DJ Ginger Perry, face painting, cruiser bike show, giveaways, a silent auction, and other cool stuff.

Rockstar Aaron's Birthday Bash at the Rockbar (2/13/09)
What an amazing party it was last night! Hosted by Darlen from Oxygen’s “Bad Girls Club” and with a myriad of other colorful characters, it was an experience for all the senses. Look for more photos soon at RockstarAaron.com.

DJ Rockstar Aaron and Pinky 500
These photos are from a small promotional shoot for the new Lollipop! Dance Party coming soon to Bender’s Tavern. The challenging part was being in an extremely tight space with the only available lights being the motel room’s ugly yellow lamps and my Sigma 500 DG Super flash. It took some trial and error, but I tried my best to make the best of the situation. It was a fun little shoot and I’m definitely looking forward to doing more of this type of thing.

Rock Bar – Cassette Fridays Launch Party
I have a little bit more footage from the DNC that I still haven’t found the time to edit into a video-blog. I will try to do that in the next couple of days.
Meanwhile, here are some photos from last Friday at the Rock Bar. It’s been a while since I’ve done any nightlife photography and I realized that I kind of missed it. Special thanks to DJ Rockstar Aaron for his initiative and hospitality.
