Goodbye Chase Dobson, Hello Option4! Photos from Lipgloss at La Rumba (2.25.11)
Chase Dobson played his last set as a resident DJ at Lipgloss on February 25. DJ Option4 (Brennen Bryarly) took his place a the new resident DJ alongside Boyhollow (Michael Trundle). I will definitely miss Chase, but Brennen is also a super nice guy and an awesome DJ, so I’m sure he’ll make a great addition to the Lipgloss team.
It’s difficult to believe that I have been a photographer at Lipgloss (Denver’s longest running indie dance club night), since early 2007. It was my first nightlife photography gig. I never seriously planned on becoming a nightclub photographer; it happened purely by chance when I took some photos at Rockstar Aaron‘s birthday party and he subsequently introduced me to Tyler “Danger” Jacobson, who was one of the founders of Lipgloss. Tyler liked my photos and ended up hiring me as their resident photographer. In the following years, I’ve shot dance parties and nightlife events all over Denver, for venues such as Rockbar, Bender’s Tavern, Beauty Bar, and since becoming the Denver Nightlife Photography Examiner - at dozens of other clubs and entertainment venues.
I have slowed down on nightlife photography in the last few months, save for my regular gig at Lipgloss and some other special events on occasion. Mainly, because I wanted to focus more on what I originally wanted to do – video production and filmmaking.

Rockstar Aaron’s B-Day Bash with Lady Starlight (Bar Standard, 2.11.11)
Lady Gaga’s DJ Lady Starlight put on a rockin’ show at Rockstar Aaron‘s Paparazzi Birthday Bash at Bar Standard on Friday. Check out the photo slideshow at the bottom of this post, or view the full set in my Flickr gallery. Characters and personalities such as Maris the Great and Damiana Garcia of Daily Freak Show also made an appearance. It was one hell of a party!

Blonde Redhead CD Release Party with Guest DJ FIGO (NYC) at Lipgloss (9.17.10)
I like Blonde Redhead (apparently, they are coming to Ogden Theater this November). I’ll have to see if I can snag the tickets to that show. Their new CD Penny Sparkle sounds lush and delicious. Meanwhile, FIGO from NYC was at Lipgloss on Friday and played a pretty great set.
