Tiësto at Beta Nightclub (11/9/09)
I’ve been slightly sick and a little bit out of the loop lately, but there are a lot of exciting things on the horizon. I will try to get back to more regular updates next week.
Meanwhile, here are some photos from Tiësto’s show at Beta Nightclub in Denver last Monday. For more pictures, check out Examiner.com and even more on my Flickr photo gallery.
Tiësto is an extremely popular trance music DJ/producer, and I actually happen to like a lot of his stuff (at least, back in my techno/trance music obsession phase many years ago, I used to listen to him quite a bit).
It was my first time at Beta, which I’ve heard a lot of good things about — eco-conscious design, energy-saving lights, state-of-the-art sound system, and so on. By the time I got there, the venue was packed wall-to-wall, and I found it difficult to move, let alone get close to the stage to get any decent close-up shots of Tiësto. After being squished by the dance-floor crowd from all sides as I tried to get closer, I finally asked one of the bouncers if I could come around the other side and take a few photos next to the stage. He said okay, but make it quick. So I grabbed my camera, made my way to Tiësto’s DJ table, which was actually blocked in my field of vision by a giant speaker and a wall, and literally extended my arm and took 4 or 5 blind shots, before the bouncer tapped on my shoulder and gestured for me to move back.
Other than being insanely crowded, the show was a lot of fun and I liked the venue quite a bit. However, I’m finding it more and more difficult to do nightlife photography on a regular basis, while also having to get up early in the mornings for my regular dayjob. Eventually, the lack of sleep is starting to catch up with me.
Anyway, here are some photos from Tiësto’s show.

Photos from 2009 Halloween parties in downtown Denver
Click here to view photo slideshows from 2009 Halloween parties on Examiner.com
As always, I’m a little behind on posting photos on my Flickr, but here they are. Tons of shots from Halloween parties at various venues in Denver – La Rumba, Purple Martini, Lavish Lounge, R Bar and more. It was an exhilarating, exhausting, and exciting weekend.
Rather than taking up bandwidth by posting hundreds of photos in this blog entry, I’m just going to link directly to my Flickr galleries. Enjoy!

4th Annual Denver Zombie Crawl
See the slideshow on Examiner.com
On Saturday, October 24, Denver’s Skyline Park was transformed into a quarantine zone for thousands of flesh-eating, brain-devouring, growling zombies. There was no shortage of imagination and hard work that went into creating a diverse range of costumes, masks and make-up effects that rivaled even Hollywood’s famous horror blockbusters. Zombie nurses, pirates, superheroes, celebrities and even Zombie Jesus were seen roaming through the crowds, attacking their victims and occasionally stopping to pose for numerous cameras pointed in their direction.
Denver’s 4th Annual Zombie Crawl was a huge success and reportedly set a new world record for most zombies in attendance (over 4,000)!
Here are some photos from the event. For many (and I mean many) more shots, check out my Flickr set. Also, you can visit eyeheartbrains.com for more information about this awesome and fun event!

Polarpalooza! at the Denver Zoo (10/7/09)
On October 7, SCFD (Scientific & Cultural Facilities District) and the Denver Zoo celebrated 20th Anniversary with free admission and various fun activities. It happened to be my day off, so I couldn’t pass up an opportunity to check it out, especially because it has been ages since I’ve been to the Denver Zoo.
I told myself that I am not leaving without at least some photos of monkeys and bears. My wishes were granted :-)
